Thanks to Jeffryv for this tip: You can add Windows NotePad to the bar, just go into “options” then click “Useful Components” tab. This lets you add applications directly to the toolbar. Also, a new Gadgets menu has been recently added to the toolbar, featuring a notepad, to do list and calculator, plus a search box for Wikipedia.
